Paul Barrett was born and grew up in various parts of south Wales, starting in Abersychan in the coal-mining area that brought incredible wealth to a few and massive hardship to many. The family eventually moved to the Wye Valley where his father was a village policeman and his mother was a teacher in a village school that just had two classrooms. Apart from Wales and England, Paul has also studied and worked in Spain, France, Sweden and Lebanon. He has written drama for the BBC and S4C (the Welsh-language channel) and has contributed to a range of newspapers and magazines.
