About the Author
Harold Evans is Editorial Director and Vice Chairman of "U.S. News & World Report," "Atlantic Monthly," and the "New York Daily News," He was President and Publisher of the Random House Trade Group from 1990 to 1997. from 1967 to 1981 he was the prize-winning editor of "The Sunday Times" of London, and from 1981-1982, editor of "The Times" of London. He lives in New York City with his wife, Tina Brown, and their two children.


Buckland held the Nobel Chair in Art and Cultural History at Sarah Lawrence College in 1991 and is an Associate Professor at The Cooper Union in New York City.

David Lefer is a professor at New York University's Polytechnic Institute, where he directs the Innovation and Technology Forum. Previously a journalist, he worked for the "New York Daily News", for the "China News "in Taiwan, and as a coproducer of the PBS talk show "The Digital Age". He collabo rated with Sir Harold Evans in the research and writing of "They Made America", a bestselling history of American innovation.
