“Just why did that lamb follow Mary to school? Here is the full story, with glorious paintings by Will Moses - the great-grandson of folk art icon Grandma Moses -- that depict the vibrant color and activity of the New England setting where the song originated. Notes and the musical score are included.”
-- Carol Moyer, Quail Ridge Books, Raleigh, NC

Description

The poem about Mary and her little lamb is one of the most popular rhymes in America, but did you know that the rhyme is true? There once was a little girl named Mary who saved the life of a tiny lamb. The two became best friends, and that little lamb followed Mary everywhere - even to school, where the poet John Roulstone visited and immortalized the two in verse.

With his trademark folk art style, Will Moses paints the true story behind the famous nursery rhyme and shows how Mary went from being a small-town Massachusetts girl to an American folk hero.

About the Author
It is no wonder Will Moses has found great success as a folk artist-he grew up around some of the best. At the age of only four years, Will began painting with his grandfather, Forrest K. Moses, a folk artist who learned to paint from his mother, Anna Mary Robertson, better known as Grandma Moses. Will, however, has received worldwide recognition for his own individual style, and his colorful and exuberant picture books have become favorites with today's children and their parents.
