About the Author

Robert Birkby is the author of the Boy Scouts Handbook, the Boy Scouts Fieldbook, the Scoutmaster Handbook, and many other Boy Scouts of America publications. An Eagle Scout and outdoor educator, he also served as Director of Conservation at Philmont Scout Ranch in the mountains of northern New Mexico. He lives in Seattle, Washington.
