The first day of school can be scary, especially when no one else speaks the same language. With a little encouragement from la Seora, Carmen teaches the class Spanish words and numbers, and she in turn learns English from her new friends.

About the Author
Judy Cox was born in San Francisco. She is the oldest of five children and enjoyed telling stories from an early age. She is a reading teacher at a small rural school and is inspired to write children's books by her own love of good literature, by raising her son, and by teaching her students.

Angela Dominguez was born in Mexico City, grew up in the great state of Texas, and now resides in San Francisco. She has illustrated several books for children and is author and illustrator of "Maria Had a Little Llama". As a child, she loved reading books and making a mess creating pictures. She's delighted to still be doing both.
