In 1987, poet Mark Nepo and his wife Anne were both diagnosed with cancer. This audio, based on Mark's book, Acre of Light: Living with Cancer, narrates through poetry and prose the intensely moving story of their journey through illness and healing. Woven throughout the text is Therese Schroeder-Shekers' sacral and serene music, a synthesis of medieval and Renaissance harmonies composed around the spiritual theme of pilgrimage.
Mark Nepo is a poet and philosopher who teaches creative writing at the State University of New York–Albany. He has published several books of poetry and is the author of The Book of Awakening: Having the Life You Want by Being Present to the Life You Have.
