A masterpiece of literary modernism, The Good Soldier tells of the complex social and sexual relationships between two couples, one English, one American, and the growing awareness by the American narrator of the intrigues and passions behind their orderly Edwardian facade.
Ford Madox Ford (1873-1939) was an English novelist, poet, critic, and editor whose two journals, the English Review and the Transatlantic Review, were instrumental in the development of early-twentieth-century English literature. He wrote dozens of novels during his lifetime, but he is now best remembered for The Good Soldier and Parade's End, the latter of which was originally published as four books: Some Do Not, No More Parades, A Man Could Stand Up, and The Last Poet. With acting credits that span stage and screen, Gildart Jackson is most often recognized for his role as Gideon on Charmed. Other notable TV roles include Jackson Palmer on Providence and Simon Prentiss on General Hospital, as well as guest appearances on Stargate: Atlantis, Las Vegas, and CSI. Theater roles include Trigorin in The Seagull, Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, and Adrian in Private Eyes at the Old Globe.
