Count up from 1 to 10.... turn
the book around, and then count down.
It's two books in one!
Children will learn to count from one to ten with this inventive, entertaining novelty book from Caldecott Honor winner Suse MacDonald! As the die-cut pages are turned, they create a lively, vibrant scene. And when little ones reach the end of the book, they'll find that they can flip it around and then count down--from ten to one!
Suse MacDonald published her first book, Alphabatics, for Simon & Schuster in 1986. This book won a Caldecott Honor in 1987, kicking off a prolific and successful career. Suse continues to write and illustrate books for children, including, most recently, Fish, Swish! Splash, Dash!: Counting Round and Round and Alphabet Animals: A Slide and Peek Adventure, for Little Simon. Suse loves to work in her studio and finds pleasure in encouraging readers to make their own artistic discoveries. Suse lives in Arvada, Colorado, with her husband, Stuart.
More than 150 writers from 40 events will gather in New York City for PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, April 28 – May 4, 2014.
For its 10th anniversary, the festival celebrates those who have dared to stand ‘on the edge,’ risking their careers, and sometimes their lives, to speak out for their art and beliefs. Join us for a wide range of events, including debates, one-on-one conversations, participatory workshops and performances in venues throughout the city. Use the code PEN14 (use PEN2014 for events at The Public Theater) and receive a 20 percent discount on most events. www.worldvoicesfestival.org
