From author Kristin Kimball, "the story of the two love affairs that interrupted the trajectory of my life: one with farming-that dirty, concupiscent art-and the other with a complicated and exasperating farmer."
Kristin Kimball is a farmer and writer living in northern New York. Prior to farming, she worked as a freelance writer, a writing teacher, and an assistant to a literary agent in New York City. A graduate of Harvard University, she and her husband, Mark, have run Essex Farm since 2003, where they live with their two daughters. Tavia Gilbert, a multiple Audie Award nominee and AudioFile Earphones and Parent's Choice Award-winning producer, narrator, and writer, has appeared on stage and in film. School Library Journal has called the performances of this highly acclaimed performer "as close as you can get to a full cast narration with a solo voice." She has narrated nearly 150 multicast and solo voice audiobooks.
- Kristin was a freelance writer in New York City, which gave her the opportunity to travel around the world. When she first met Mark on his farm, she felt like a foreigner. In what ways do you think this feeling comforted her? Were you surprised when the situation flipped and Kristin felt foreign to the life she used to lead in the city?
"Kimball has a gift for throwing into high relief contemporary Americans' disconnect between farm-life realities and city ambitions." ---Booklist
