About the Author
Leslie Bulion is a freelance writer, with credits including Cicada, Child Magazine, and Parents Magazine, and is a regular contributor to She holds a Masters of Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University and has worked as a social worker in an elementary school and a hospital. A member of SCBWI, she spent a month traveling in East Africa with her anthropologist sister, her husband, and two daughters. She studied the Kiswahili language, and was welcomed into many Tanzanian and Kenyan family homes.

LESLIE EVANS was born in New York City in 1942. He grew up in Los Angeles, and has lived since in San Francisco, Manhattan, and Virginia, Minnesota. He has worked as a carpenter, a Marxist militant, an iron miner on the Mesabi Iron Range, an editor for UCLA's Asian studies centers, the World Health Organization, and the World Bank, and as reporter for UCLA's International Institute. He is the author of the memoir Outsider's Reverie. He lives with his wife, Jennifer Charnofsky, their dog and five cats in a 1910 Craftsman house in the West Adams section of Los Angeles.
