About the Author
Melinda Morgan is a native-born Californian who feels a profoundly spiritual connection with the mountains of northwestern United States, particularly those of eastern Idaho and Wyoming. It is no wonder that the Teton Mountain Range became the setting for her first novel, tude. Melinda lived in Idaho in 1980-81 and enjoyed exploring the grandeur of the Tetons, whether hiking, horseback riding, or snow skiing. She has held a fondness for the area ever since. In 1997, upon finding herself a displaced homemaker and single mother of four small children, Melinda went back to school and in 1998, she received her BA in Liberal Studies from California Baptist University while teaching full time and raising her children. She went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education and Administration from Azusa Pacific University. In 2002, she married Ron Morgan, who is also an educator and musician. They remain happily married to this day. Melinda has served as a staff developer and district liaison for the California Math and Science (CaMS) K-12 Alliance. In 2006, she received the Region 10 California League of Middle Schools Teacher of the Year award. She is currently serving as an assistant principal for Temecula Valley USD Alternative Education Center and spends the bulk of her time helping students complete their high school education. In writing tude, Melinda has drawn upon more than thirteen years of experience as a secondary language arts and science teacher to write a story with a scientifically intriguing plot, endearing characters, and elements such as foreshadowing, symbolism, and imagery to enhance the book's literary value. Melinda is a classically trained pianist, beginning with piano lessons at the young age of seven and culminating with performances that landed her on the Piano Players Guild's National Role with a superior rating for five years in a row.
