Excellent coffee house reminiscent of a San Francisco style coffee house which is what attracted me to it! Great coffee & very friendly employees. Plenty of different types of seating to suit your needs.

From their website:
Java Jones Café first opened its doors in Isla Vista, CA near the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1992. While still a student at UCSB, the current CEO of Java Jones Coffeehouse, Brett Winslow bought the café in 1995 and quickly turned the store into one of the Universities most frequented local businesses. For the next 8 years Winslow honed his coffee making skills and retail experience and opened its second store in Pacific Beach, San Diego in January 2004. Later that year Java Jones opened two more stores both located on State Street in Santa Barbara, CA. In 2006, Winslow started the construction of a roasting facility in East Village San Diego. Winslow was on a quest to source, roast and brew the finest coffees that are both socially and environmentally friendly. With the opening of a roasting facility in San Diego Java Jones has been committed to selling only 100% organic and 100% fair traded coffee. Shortly after the coffee roasting facility was opened Java Jones Coffeehouse opened its fifth store in March, 2007 in East Village San Diego.

Drive-Thru, Free Wi-Fi, Long Hours. Locally owned. Eclectic, comfortable atmosphere. Regular Fine Art exhibits. Inspiring jewelry making classes, Poetry Readings, Mobile Chess Club. Home away from home.

Going thru town recently we were lucky enough to stop at Dr. Java for an iced mocha latte. This is a very hip coffee house with art for sale on the walls and lots of cool decorations everywhere. There are tables you can sit at but also couches where you can get really comfortable and stay a while.

Our barista was really friendly and nice, service was great, and the coffee was delicious. The latte was really chocolatey and rich, yummy! (and very reasonable priced too).

We were very excited when we saw that they have shelves full of books for trading. We found nine books we wanted that we traded for nine of our already read books. It's almost too good to be true!

(Don't forget to check out the "final exam" in the ladies bathroom, it had me cracking up!)
