Amicus represents a new model for positive community change. The written word is perhaps universally recognized as a force, having the power to shape our perceptions, create our intentions, and reveal our common truths, assumptions, and goals.

Our goal is to promote and advance the literary genius of Marysville, Yuba City, and the surrounding area - to offer opportunities for writers, to educate, to enhance that force inherent in all of us - the creativity of language.

Poetry is honored every day at the Grolier Poetry Book Shop in Harvard Square, the oldest continuous poetry book shop in the United States.

We stock over 15,000 current volumes of trade, small press, and university publications as well as books related to prosody, poetry markets, and spoken word CDs.

I go here whenever I'm in the Brunswick area. This store is what I remember what a bookstore was 30 years ago. A fine selection of books in a wide range of topics with a slight left-leaning bent.

We are a small poetry press -- a "virtual" collective that publishes about five "actual" titles per year. Our goal is to produce beautiful books of wonderful poetry.
