About Me:
I am the Publisher/Editor of a funky little zine called Gonzo Parenting. It's all about parenting, from the parents' point of view. You won't find any didactic, dull articles in Gonzo Parenting... Every issue reads like a mini-anthology, full of personal essays by parents "in the trenches."

Magers & Quinn Booksellers is the largest independent bookstore in Minneapolis/St Paul, serving local readers for the past fourteen years. We've been voted "Best Bookstore" by the local free weekly for the last three years.
We sell all sorts of books. There are 300,000 books in our store right now. We have brand-new bestsellers and rare books dating back to 1750. We sell remaindered and used books. There's a cart of dollar books for bargain shoppers and first editions and other collectibles for deeper pockets.
We hold events about three times a week. They range from local poets' groups to Minnesota history to touring authors from around the world. In the last year, we've hosted Chuck Palahniuk, Amy Bloom, Nam Le, David Carr, Irvine Welsh (complete with burlesque dancers) Stefan Fatsis, Barbara Ehrenreich, and Li-Young Lee.
M&Q hosts the "Books & Bars"--the largest book club in the Twin Cities. Once a month, fifty to seventy dedicated bibliophiles gather at the Bryant-Lake Bowl to swill beer and discuss a good book. It's a very lively crowd and a lot of fun. Outside of the monthly meetings there's a lively online discussion at www.booksandbars.com and even a kickball team that's grown out of the book club.
M&Q and the Walker Art Center's mnartists.org sponsors the "What Light: This Week's Poem." It's a quarterly contest open to Minnesota poets. Each week, selected poems are published on our website and at www.mnartists.org. Every three months, the winning poets gather in our store for a reading. We've even published a book with the best of the best from the first year, and another volume is in the works.
We're proud of our partnerships with the Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library, Twin Cities Book Festival, Rain Taxi Review of Books, the Minneapolis Literacy Council, the Loft Literary Center and the Bell Museum of Natural History. If three book lovers get together in Minneapolis, we're probably there.
