Babycakes is Good For You.
And this is why:
In a city dominated by cupcakes overflowing with sugar, flour and butter cream, it’s easy for those with delicate tummies to feel left out. BabyCakes offers all natural, organic and delicious alternatives free from the common allergens: wheat, gluten, dairy, casein and eggs. Rest assured, all sweeteners have been chosen responsibly and used sparingly. White sugar will never be found in our bakery, nor will we ever use toxic chemical sweeteners. Instead, most products are sweetened with agave nectar—a natural syrup from a cactus which is low on the glycemia index and often a safe alternative to most non-insulin dependent diabetics. Occasionally, unprocessed and unrefined sugar is used in certain goods, although sparingly.

Babycakes

This is the mecca for vegans in Manhattan!
You will smell it before you see it!
Erin McKenna has created the coziest, most affordable, and insanely delicious vegan bakery ever. It is also mostly wheat-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, and soy-free.
When I first visited from Los Angeles I made a beeline for this place, and was not disappointed at all. It is small, which gives it a great small town feeling, decorated with vintage dishes and records. The girls at the counter are sweet and friendly, and you can watch the ladies in the back make delicious cupcakes and cookies! It is conveniently located at 248 Broome in the lower East Side, which is right down the street from TeaNY (Moby's vegan tea shop and cafe), and Moo Shoes (the best place in the country for vegan shoes and fashion).
Be sure to gobble up all cupcakes in sight, grab all of the brownies, order a vanilla shake, and steal all of their samples!
This is a welcome addition to the Manhattan vegan community, and is making non-vegans quite happy as well.
Be sure to visit!
