Love the atmosphere!

Love this bookstore. Probably my favorite in all of New York City. They have a section for weird book covers. Great atmosphere to browse for a good hour or so!

Also... free coffee!

Freebird--extremely cozy.

I'm a big fan of Freebird. It's a very cozy, very welcoming book store. Even though it's small, it does a lot with the space and manages to squeeze in some comfortable chairs for those who want to stay a while before or after browsing. The staff has always been helpful. They've also got regular events--which you can stay up-to-date on by joining their e-mail list. Unfortunately, I can't visit often any more--but wish I could! You can always find some odd treasure in the used books.

"A house without a soul is like a book without a..."--oh, darn. That's not it! Sorry, Cicero.

Is this in Brooklyn or in Manhattan?

Freebird's in Brooklyn

It's in Brooklyn, practically on the waterfront on the east edge of Cobble Hill and north-ish of Red Hook.
