books, books, books

i loved this little store when I first discovered it in its original location a couple of years ago. I especially loved the little reading room where I went to a "storytime for grown-ups". Hollis Gillespie, author of Bleachy Haired Honky Bitch, made everyone laugh and her daughter was in the audience. She passed out cupcakes with delicious icing.
I loved that the colors of the interior of the store, soft, warm yellows if I remember correctly. They have an excellent adult section that I enjoyed browsing in right next to the teen section.
To top it all off, they were adjoined to Jake's Ice Cream shop so if you wore yourself out reading, you could partake of a cold refreshing cone.
The party rooms in the back were unique as well. It just made me want to read, to be a part of this little shop and to stay awhile.
They've since moved to another location just down in the square next to Starbucks so now when I go, I get the pleasure of the coffee aroma while I scan the shelves.
Very inviting atmosphere, you should check it out.

Little Shop of Stories

Little Shop of Stories is THE best independent children's bookstore in the known universe. Kismet had them open their doors a week before I opened the door to my new home just two miles away. Since then, they have been incredibly supportive of my career as it has grown and I easily call their store my second home. I imagine most of their customers feel the same way. Make an effort to stop by if you should be anywhere near the south any time soon.
