Montclair Book Center the last bastion of thought in NJ
Best place to browse aimlessly in North Jersey: nothing else comes close. Actually more interesting than the overpacked Strand in NY and the only alternative to B&N and the Mall bound dismalites. Better than all North Jersey university book stores. Nearest legit alternatives are in upstate NY and midwestern PA.
If you are a book lover, you will be addicted to the MBC. Hardcovers extensive: huge perf arts/music section. History interesting but spotty. Philosophy, collectibles and literature strong.
Prices exceptional, even in the rare books aisles. Head to the downstairs stacks for inspired madness. Children's section extensive. Public parking half a block away.
You are wasting your time anywhere else.
