One of the old-fashioned bookstores, piles everywhere, books crowding every shelf. A huge selection and surprisingly detailed organization, with sections, for example, for very closely defined eras of history or kinds of philosophy. The store owner is a bit gruff, but he knows his inventory inside out, and he'll be able to tell you if they have a particular book without having to consult a computer or an inventory list. Don't be afraid of him; he's never going to be the sunny, friendly type, but he loves books and he knows his stuff - and he's never actually unkind. It's also one of the few stores that never seems to lack a huge range of author works, above and beyond the main titles they're known for. I've found books by Hemingway I wasn't even aware existed here.
