Reiter's Books -a hidden treasure in Washington, DC!

Reiter’s Books is the poster child for indie book stores!

Not only are they DC’s oldest bookstore, they are family owned & operated and a true DC landmark for intellectuals! Their fan base always astonishes me as well! I used to work at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum and once heard a research colleague describe Reiter’s as a 'candy store for scientists!'

A few months ago while I was there, I met a professor from China who said that he has shopped at Reiter’s for 20 years – during which time he has traveled the world, lived in seven countries and seen many good technical bookstores - however, he said he keeps coming back because Reiter's is the best on the planet!'

And Even though they have been around since 1936, they are NOT a small, dusty and cramped old bookstore like you might imagine - the store is modern, spacious and truly a hidden treasure located in the heart of the nation’s capital! I truly cannot recommend any store more highly!
