About Me:
I'm the author of The Lost Country of Sight (Anhinga 2008), which won the 2007 Philip Levine Prize for Poetry.
A former computer games programmer (complete with a BS Computer Science and Math minor), I woke up one morning (probably at my work desk) and realized I'd rather be teaching and writing full-time, then continue in a career I no longer loved and only write on the side.
I'm originally from Canada, but have spent much of my life traveling and growing up all over the world (Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, various parts of western Canada and the United States).
In addition to writing poetry, I also run Boxcar Poetry Review (www.boxcarpoetry.com) and design websites. I'm currently pursuing a PhD in Literature & Creative Writing at the University of Southern California and wondering if there's a way to justify my anime-watching addiction as part of my dissertation research.
