I have a few friends who call themselves reformed lawyers, and I like that description since I don't practice. I hate to be unoriginal, but since it applies, I'll use it too-I am a reformed lawyer. I have always loved to read and have pictures taken of me as a child reading up in a tree in order to avoid the siblings (and possibly chores around the house.)

Books are like drugs. I can never have enough and despite the fact that my reading list is always growing exponentially, I am not daunted in the least. In fact, I get warm and fuzzy thinking about everything I still have to read.

As luck would have it, (for the sake of my sanity) I have other interests. Music of all kinds, especially live music. Theater. Movies. Television. Though reality series do drive me crazy. And, I'm blessed with a great group of friends who I can usually convince to meet me out for a pint whenever things get too heady. When I'm reading, I often don't hear people speaking to me and regularly pass my El stop and have to turn around and head the other direction so I can get home.

I live in Chicago and like most avid readers I know, have several novels begun though none have finished themselves-funny how they don't write themselves while I'm out about in the city.
