About the Author

Carmela Ciuraru is the editor of the anthology First Loves: Poets Introduce the Essential Poems That Captivated and Inspired Them, and the former editor of the Journal of the Poetry Society of America. A graduate of Columbia University's School of Journalism, she lives in New York City. Emily Fragos is an award-winning poet and editor of the Everyman's Library Pocket Poets anthologies The Great Cat, The Dance, Music's Spell, Art and Artists, and Letters by Emily Dickinson. She lives in New York City. J. D. McClatchy is the author of eight collections of poetry and three collections of prose. He has edited numerous other books, including The Vintage Book of Contemporary American Poetry, and has written a number of opera libretti that have been performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala, and elsewhere. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, where he served as president from 2009 to 2012. McClatchy teaches at Yale University and is editor of The Yale Review.
