About the Author

Born in Hawaii but raised in East Texas, Brannon Perkison lives in Dallas, Texas, with his wife, two children, and one extremely old mutt. When not writing, he meddles in his wife's architecture business, draws cartoons, coaches the chess team at his son's elementary school, and plays more tennis than he really ought to. Perkison based "The Do-Nothing "on German bildungsromanen, novels of self-discovery and formation. In 2011, his manuscript was a finalist in the Unified Literary Contest, a quarter-finalist for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award, and a finalist in the Writers League of Texas manuscript contest, the largest such contest in the state. In the same year, a fellowship from Summer Literary Seminars gave Perkison the opportunity to workshop "The Do-Nothing "manuscript with Louis Sachar.
