Description

A disturbing prophecy sends a treasure hunting duo on an urgent race to rescue a country in Kaylin McFarren's heart pounding new novel, Buried Threads. Full of erotic suspense and wild adventures, this is one trip readers will never forget Rachel Lyons and Chase Cohen work together as the successful owners of a treasure hunting company. But a seemingly simple assignment-to track down a priceless gem that is believed to be buried in a shipwreck deep within the Sea of Japan-takes a startling, and dangerous, turn. Faced with a monk's dark prophecy that a natural disaster will soon strike Japan, killing millions, Rachel and Chase must embark on the mission of a lifetime in order to uncover the three cursed samurai swords that can avert the catastrophe. Chaos ensues as their adventure takes them from shark infested waters and creepy caves to haunted hidden tombs and a confrontation with Yakuza gang members. Time is running out as the prophecy's day of reckoning draws near. Will Rachel and Chase succeed before disaster strikes?

Praise For Buried Threads

"A unique story that's guaranteed to delight readers; ventures into secret Japanese societies, weaves in fascinating cultural and historic nuggets, and yet, keeps the story current, modern, and highly sophisticated; characters are well developed, and the plot lines are startling, dangerous, and exciting; guaranteed to please readers who enjoy tales of great adventure, chase of dangerous treasures, and a good sprinkle of well-crafted erotic scenes. Not to be missed!" --The Columbia Review of Books & Film

"Turning each page in this book, it's hard not to imagine the glossy, high-budget film that is begging to be made. The setting of modern Japan is exotic and jumps off the page whether in the form of the demure geishas or the twisted honor of the yakuza. Almost immediately, readers are treated to action and double-crosses in the seedy underbelly of the land of the rising sun. With plenty of all the elements we come to expect from an action blockbuster, this title is satisfying and entertaining from start to finish." --Michael Radon, US Review of Books

"Buried Threads is beautifully written. It is very apparent that McFarren did her research and put a lot of effort into this book. All of the different story lines and sub-plots came together perfectly. You get everything from romance to violence to spirits and religion, all blending naturally. McFarren's use of imagery was equally enjoyable. I can't imagine that anyone who enjoys this kind of reading would find much disappointment except maybe wondering about a sequel. The way this one ended, I just can't wait to see if there is more coming!" --Kayci Webster, Readers' Favorite

"The beautiful yet numb geisha, the obsessed, vengeful Yakuza killer, the Buddhist monk who claims to see into both the future and the past, and of course, the intelligent and talented heroine, troubled by personal insecurities yet strong enough to expertly brandish a sword. As McFarren introduces you to each of these people against the backdrop of modern and ancient Japanese culture, you become hooked, soon kept in thrall of their unfolding stories and fearful of who will still be alive at the end." --Chanticleer Book Reviews

"If you're a fan of murder mysteries but eschew the usual genre-formatted adventures that offer too-predictable protagonists and not enough depth, it's time to take a look at Buried Threads: a horse of another color. More than a murder mystery, this mingles a treasure hunt, an international race against time, a dark prophecy, Japanese culture, erotic encounters and a clever killer's modus operandi into a story that just won't quit." --Diane Donovan, Senior Editor, Midwest Book Review
