We're Still Mad at You, Anderson's!

We're still bummed that Anderson's Bookshop closed one of its three locations. One of the reasons we moved to Elmhurst IL back in '98 was because of the excellent Anderson's right there within easy walking distance. Fortunately, the Naperville and Downers Grove (both IL) locations survive and thrive.
Both are great bookshops, but (when we lived in IL) we usually chose the more distant one -- 30 miles from us -- in Naperville because Naperville is so cool -- lots of shopping, sushi, Riverwalk and all that.
The Naper Anderson's is the place we enjoyed seeing such authors as Jeffrey Deaver, Michael Connelly, and Mutts creator Patrick McDonnell at their book signings. Especially McDonnell because he drew cartoons in our books.
The Naper Anderson's has a quality that seems to be rare in bookstores: it is spacious. I do like the cozier shops too, but there's a lot to be said for wide aisles.
(We're not really mad at you, Anderson's. But the closing of the bookstore -- and one so nearby! -- still rankles.)
