A Great Store

Let me be upfront -- I work here so I'm biased. But still, Bookshop Santa Cruz has been a valuable and important part of the Santa Cruz community since 1966. We have great author events, just last night I sat and listened to Joyce Goldstein discuss her new book Mediterranean Fresh. Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable and very hilarious, but fellow staff members made examples of the recipes for the audience to try.

We have a community book group that meets once a month to discuss the work of a local author. It's facilitated by the wonderful Julie Minnis and the author comes to participate in the dialog.

Community is very important to the store. Bookshop Santa Cruz survived the '89 earthquake because of the direct involvement of the community. New staff is still told the stories of the Book Brigade that rescued the inventory from the ruined building and Booktent Santa Cruz which became the stores home for three years.

I'm really happy to be work here and I hope you'll check us out.
